Cogito Ergo Sum - Life - Self(destruct) - Trust Fall
Life 2014 Peeled acrylic paint and wire, found felted sculpture 100x30x30cm Dozens of little life-forms which writhe and crawl around a found object. This object, made of felted foam resembles at once a hive, a cocoon, a nest and other structures in and around which you would expect to find life. The organisms, made of paint peels and wire are similarly ambiguous: they do not resemble any particular creature of this world but reference all types of life forms such as plants, microbes, insects, mammals etc and also perhaps life more alien. One imagines these forms hatching, swarming, invading, multiplying, crawling, constructing, cocooning and so forth, bringing life to a sculpture which is in reality not alive or moving at all. |
