Unnamed
2013
Peeled acrylic paint and wire
60x60x60cm

Unnamed was drawn from -but not identical to- my own physical proportions and also fashioned from peels of acrylic paint.  This human scale sculpture sits on the floor, lost within self-contemplation. Though turned inward, Unnamed demands the viewer’s anthropomorphic empathy. Reasonably humanoid, though somewhat pathetic, we want Unnamed to breathe and move, think and feel. We want to name Unnamed in order to grant identity and being. It is this empathy that brings Unnamed to life, as a living painting.
